A Season to Remember

As the snow settles and the lifts close for the season, we want to take a moment to reflect on what has been a remarkable winter at Sandia Peak Ski Area. We couldn’t have done it without YOU—the amazing community of skiers, riders, and adventure seekers who made this season one of the best ones yet.

Despite the hardships, our team excelled and rose to the occasion, making every effort to keep the mountain open and extend the season. Let’s look back at some highlights from our 2024/2025 winter season.

The Recap Of Our Winter:

We Opened Earlier Than Ever!

We’re so grateful that we were able to open our doors to all of you on November 9th for the earliest opening in Sandia Peak Ski Area history. The excitement and energy you brought was contagious. There’s nothing better than seeing smiles on the slopes and experiencing your incredible support. Your enthusiasm and encouragement meant the world to us.

We Were Open More Often and Longer Than Expected

Thanks to our incredible team and some help from Mother Nature, we were able to keep the lifts running for an unexpected bonus day on April 6th, giving you even more time to enjoy the mountain. Plus, this year we moved into a 7 day a week schedule. It was great to see your smiles everyday of the week during the peak of our season.

Creative Thinking and Solutions

This season, we pushed ourselves to think outside the box. Whether it was introducing new programs or implementing unique solutions to challenges with the weather and lifts, our goal was to give you the best experience possible in any way possible.

Chair 4 Made Its Return

After our team’s persistent work last summer, Chair 4 returned this season, adding to the ease Sandia Peak provides for new skiers and snowboarders to enter the sport! Lift work is a large part of our team’s efforts, and seeing the way Chair 4 brought accessibility to our mountain was truly a sight to see.

The Never Ever Package

Our Never Ever package was introduced this season making it easier than ever for newcomers to get on the slopes. The package included a lift ticket, lesson, and rental all in one affordable, hassle-free bundle. We take pride in giving New Mexico the easiest approach to trying skiing or snowboarding for the first time and this package was the icing on the cake.

Positive Attitude All Around

The energy and positive vibes this season were unmatched. We’re so proud of the incredible sense of community we’ve built together here at Sandia Peak.

60 Days of Riding

We managed to be open for 60 action-packed days, filled with winter fun, New Mexico scenery, and great memories, even with the limited natural snow. This is all thanks to thinking outside the box with snowmaking and our team’s persistent efforts to capitalize on every chance to get the snow machines running.

Looking Ahead: Enhancements and Summer Projects

As we close out the winter season, we’re already looking ahead to summer and beyond. Our team is hard at work planning out exciting projects and improvements that will make next year even better. Here’s a sneak peek at what we’re working on:

Restoring Chair 2 to Its Original State

We're excited to share that this summer, we're working on restoring Chair 2 to its original state! Once completed, Chair 2 will provide quick and easy access to the top of the mountain. We'll keep you updated on our progress—stay tuned!

Lift Maintenance and Upgrades

Our team will be performing essential maintenance on several lifts to ensure smoother and more reliable operations in the 2025/2026 season. We’re committed to delivering a great experience from your first ride up to your last run down.

Snowmaking Enhancements

We're making key improvements to our snowmaking system to ensure more consistent conditions, allowing us to get the season started earlier and keep it going longer. Who wouldn’t want even more days on the mountain?
